• Drive Engagement and Traffic with Empire Avenue Missions

At Empire Avenue we’re building a virtual economy powered by your social activity, where everyone is rewarded for being social online! For brands and content creators, a big part of that reward is to drive targeted, relevant traffic to your web pages and social media presence.

Empire Avenue Missions are just one of the many ways you can tap into our virtual, social economy to get real results. With Missions, you can:

    • Drive traffic to your web properties
    • Reward engagement in a fun, game-powered environment
    • Build loyalty among your existing fans
    • Increase your audience by attracting new followers, fans and subscribers

Missions are currently in Beta testing, with limited access to Mission creation. Request access to create Missions of your own.

“Shareholder Missions increase engagement beyond what can be accomplished in even the most entertaining conversations over stock transactions… Very powerful and compelling new feature.” – Kevin Strehlo, (e)MARATHON

Creating a Mission is ridiculously easy:

    1. Choose a link you want people to visit. It could be your website, Facebook page, a YouTube video – anything.
    2. Set a reward that people will get when they click. You’ll use the virtual currency you’re already earning on Empire Avenue.
    3. Watch the hits roll in! Every user who visits your link will get the reward, and they’ll love you for it.

“I was honestly surprised that offering rewards yielded a far greater amount of engagement from the same audience.” – Chris Pirillo, (e)PIRILLO

I like the Missions. This something I currently do but, to be rewarded for activity is AWESOME! Thanks.

I love the concept, getting ready to author my first mission now.

I feel like an idiot… I can’t figure out where/how to create missions. Are they still in limited beta? I click on Missions, and I see a list of available missions. At the top, there are buttons for Portfolio and Global, and a drop-down to sort by Recent or Most Likes.

      Where’s the Create Mission button???

    5. December 22, 2011 at 9:05 am

Scott – you’re right; Missions creation is still limited. We’re testing the system and want to make sure it’s not creating usability issues. Over the next few weeks we’ll continue to expand the group that has access to Mission creation — we’re basically adding new people every day. If you just can’t wait that long, and have a brand or are a content creator, you can contact us at bizdev@empireavenue.com and request access. No guarantees that we can get you in, but we’ll evaluate!

Cool Wayne! Let us know how it goes!

    7. December 22, 2011 at 9:53 am

Hey Scott, no worries, we are rolling them out in stages to be able to manage support requests. Today everyone with a share price greater than 80 (at the time of the roll out) had Mission creation enabled. Everyone with a score over 30 will have access by the New Year. When you have access, you’ll see a Mission Creation Tab (check out our blog post for full details and a screen shot of what the tab looks like) http://blog.empireavenue.com/2011/12/19/empire-avenue-missions-easy-engaging-and-profitable/

So wehre is the create missions button? I can not see anywhere where you actually create a mission?

    9. January 6, 2012 at 3:08 pm

I am really looking forward to trying the “Create Missions” functionality. I’m part of groups on Facebook that are doing what Missions is supposed to accomplish. A lot of my fellow users there are people who, like me, are not waiting for the full rollout on Empire Avenue and we’re just doing it on our own. Basically, the goal of a Mission or Swap is to get SEO / marketing benefit arranged inside of a walled garden so that Google / Bing / Etc. can’t see the planning.

Any update on when missions will be released to the masses and what the finalized requirements will be, e.g. stock price?

Hi as a new member trying to play the game and increase my portfolio of
shares in others with my only source of income being to do missions I would
just like to make this comment on your changes… WELL DONE DICKHEAD!!
Now I am “Ineligible” I know it si new because the last three have cut me out
so HOW do you expect me and other new users to get any income now???
      Noel

      Noel,

Maybe you should do it the same way everyone else did it LONG before missions came about. They are not meant to be a source of income for you or anyone else. Learn to build your portfolio.

Although I doubt you will get far in a social game calling people names like that…

      Good luck!

@Jason & @Lee: Check out this blog post — all will be revealed: http://blog.empireavenue.com/2012/01/11/missions-who-do-you-want-to-reward-a-k-a-targeting-for-dummies/

@Noel: Yep, there are many ways to generate Eaves by connecting your Social Media networks and then improving your scores on those networks.

@Lisa: Thanks for the support! :D

Excellent tool, you guys at EA rock!!!

Can’t wait to get a chance to make my own missions!

    17. January 20, 2012 at 5:43 pm

One issue I have with missions is that there really is no way to tie the mission to a specific target audience. For example, I am a portrait photographer in Calgary, Alberta. I would really prefer to entice other Calgarians to visit my blog and Like my page on Facebook.

I tried tying the mission to people who are members of the “Calgary, Alberta” community. This really hasn’t worked as people just join the community in order to click on the mission. Ideally there should be a requirement that people be members of that community for a certain length of time prior to completing the mission. Better yet would be for me to be able to choose a geographic radius within which the person must live (similar to the way Facebook Ad targeting works), and again allow a requirement that the they must have had there location set for a certain length of time in order to qualify for the mission…

I just got placed on a “Missions cool-down”.

“We have noticed you have completed a lot of Missions quickly today. To prevent abuse of the Missions system we have temporarily placed your account on a Missions cool-down, just for a little bit, to enable you to spend those Eaves you have just generated!!

This is ridiculous. If you want people to actually use the missions system then you let them use it. If you want to stop people from abusing the system then you put controls in place to prevent abuse. (ie. there needs to be some feedback mechanism in place to prove that the mission has been completed correctly). Stopping me from doing missions just because I’ve done several within a few minutes (all of which required only a simple click or an share purchase) is not an adequate criteria.

I recognize that not all websites *automatically* provide the feedback that would be required to automate this system, but surele Eav itself does. If a mission is to buy X amount of shares of somebody, surely that can be built into the mission system… Start there!

I would like to know that too

    23. May 1, 2012 at 6:57 am

I have been a “member” of EA for 9 days or so now – but I am not able to create missions either – but I see users on the fresh faces list that are able to – what am I missing?

      Thanks in advance.
